What’s the first word that comes to mind when you see someone dropping litter? Last week, my partner and I saw a couple of kids dropping an empty crisp packet, as they were walking. Today, I saw a group of young kids aged about ten to twelve drop a can, which was then kicked repeatedly and then kicked into the road, only to be run over by a car. They laughed along the way, as I looked at them in disgust.
It’s nothing new, but the first word that came to mind was DISGUSTING.
These are kids. Perhaps they spit in the road, but would they spit in their own bedroom? What has happened to society? Why is there no respect for the environment and keeping Britain tidy, full stop?
I’m so grateful that my parents taught me manners, because we’d probably get a two fingers up for speaking out.
Sometimes I wish I was a secret copper in disguise. I’d get all these people who use their mobile phone at the wheel, and I’d confiscate children’s gadgets unless they pick up the litter they have dropped. However, I’m probably the one who would get arrested, because we’ve living in a society today where parents are judged for even disciplining their kids. However, dropping litter is lazy and disrespectful to those who do respect our towns and cities, and use litter bins.
