There is no doubt about it. Modern bible versions exist to profit from God. The King James Version has no copyright, but modern versions have copyright. The King James Version has many verses that provide assurance of salvation, including John 3:16, John 6:47, 1 John 5:13, and 1 Corinthians 1:18, to name a few.
However, I heard this verse of 1 Corinthians 1:18 being read in a local Church of England church on Sunday, and it is clearly teaching works for salvation.
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God — 1 Corinthians 1:18 ( NIV)
Did you notice the words — being saved? Christ saves us through His shed blood as payment for all of our sins, upon faith in His finished work (John 19:30). Salvation has nothing to do with human merit before or after salvation. The Holy Bible makes it clear that we are saved by grace through faith in Christ, as found in Ephesians 2:8–9.
Let’s look at the King James version of this same scripture.
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God — 1 Corinthians 1:18 (KJV)
We are saved when we put our faith in Christ as payment for our sins. We are given the free gift of the Holy Spirit, who seals us. We are kept by Christ. All glory and thanks be to Him.
Even other modern versions like the New King James, New Living Translation and the English Standard Version has changed salvation into works for salvation.

Notice that all of these modern bible translations above, have changed the scripture of 1 Corinthians 1:18 to ‘being saved’, but the faithful KJV says that we are saved. There can be no growth in grace without assurance of salvation. We need to stop listening to man, and believe the promises of God. Be very careful of modern bible translations, which are also copyrighted for profit.
