I purchased a Proform TDF 1.0 indoor cycle over three years ago, and I use it regularly. It can be used with iFIT, which is a separate fitness subscription, but I often wish I had just purchased a basic indoor cycle at the third of its £899 price.
The spin bike or indoor cycle provides a fantastic workout. With enough effort, you can burn over 500 calories per hour. I completed 42 kilometres yesterday in just over 65 minutes and burnt 750 calories, according to my heart rate monitor and the Polar A300 activity tracker.
I got an endorphin rush about thirty minutes into my workout and felt fantastic for several hours afterward. Here is an amazing TED Talks video on the benefits of exercise on the brain by Wendy Suzuki.
The truth is that you don’t need to buy a Peloton indoor cycle or a Proform TDF 1.0 indoor cycle to get the calorie burning effects of at-home cycling.
Try this Racer Pro Indoor Cycle at just £379 and get a great workout. Purchase through Sweatband.com and save 5 percent with voucher code bike5 or £25 off orders over £250 with 25over250. The more resistance you cycle with, the more calories you will burn so push yourself and reap the benefits in as little as twenty minutes. Add a heart rate monitor like the Polar H7 and an activity tracker, like the Polar A300, and you’ll get an accurate calorie burn dependent on your effort and length of time cycling.
Another fantastic indoor cycling workout that I perform regularly is this interval training cycle program.
- 8 seconds of cycling at 100 percent effort (example incline of 10 and resistance of 15)
- 12 second rest
Repeat this interval training cycle program 60 times to burn over 300 calories in 20 minutes. Download one of the amazing tabata interval apps available through the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Please note, the calorie burn is effective with your current weight and cycling exertion level.
